It is essential that this filtering service is used appropriately. As a filtering administrator you are required to manage this system in line with your Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and any e safety or AUP that your organisation has. Your Acceptable Use Policy should be reviewed regularly and understood by all key stakeholders.
This service is provided as a measure to help safeguard all users from unsuitable Internet content. RM SafetyNet allows for each organisation to amend the centrally provided filtering levels for each organisation by enabling access to blocked sites or blocking access to allowed sites. It is clear that you as the filtering administrator carry the responsibility to effectively manage this level of regulation on behalf of your school or organisation. This is a significant responsibility and as such all changes to the filtering administration environment are logged and audited for your safety to record and identify any inappropriate use.
RM SafetyNet Go is our on device browser extension for offsite filtering.
We highly recommend implementing RM SafetyNet Go with an MDM and on a single web browser. The MDM must be configured to limit users to the web browser that has the RM SafetyNet Go extension installed, and to block changes to the web browser or the installation of other web browsers. This will ensure safeguarding compliance by enforcing the configured filtering policies for your students and staff.
Where there is a requirement for both Chrome and Edge web browsers to be used on the same device, then we recommend that the RM SafetyNet Go extension is installed on each of them and the device is managed and configured appropriately with your chosen MDM. However, there is a limitation – if a user is on a Windows Device, using a Chrome Browser then user based filtering will not be applied and the user will be defaulted to the RM default filtering policy.
If the user is using the Edge extension on the Windows Device then the usual user based filtering policies will be applied.
If your device is using RM SafetyNet Go but the device is not due to go offsite, then we highly recommend using the RM SafetyNet Agent in place of RM SafetyNet Go.
